As a youngin’ it can be pretty easy to brush off any unwanted advice from our mother’s and swiftly proceed to do the absolute opposite. To their horror and dismay we just never want to hear what the best thing to do is, because of course even at the ripe old age of sixteen, we know what is best! Here is a list of some of the best advice we received from our mums, and why now as adults we are so appreciative of it!
Bring a jacket
As much as we hate to say it, possibly every single time our mother’s told us to bring a jacket, we did not. Shivering whilst standing in line to get into seedy bars is no longer a good look and we have definitely learnt our lesson.
Good table manners are important
Ever eaten your lunch at the office lunch table and wondered why the person next to you can’t (for the life of them) chew with their mouth closed?! Table manners are so important, just at least to be a decent human being to those around you and give off a good first impression!
Make the bed
It may be a bit of a drag, but learning to make the bed every morning starts you off on the best start to the day! Without even leaving the house you have accomplished a task and it will have you feeling like you have things under control. We may have been forced into it but this is a habit we now appreciate!
Eat your vegetables
Like many others the first thing you do when moving out of the family home is the sweet, sweet realisation that you can eat whatever you want, whenever you want! Unfortunately for many it is only after a few weeks of chocolate binging and a few sore stomachs that we start to realise, fruit and veggies will need to be included somewhere in the diet. Even if some days the french fries are one of our servings, we feel better for it!
With Mother’s Day fast approaching we definitely reminisce on some of the lifelong great advice we have received from our mums, and how they were always right! That’s why there is no better way to thank them than spoiling them rotten on Mother’s Day. Spoil her with an edible arrangement of gold in our Golden Hearts Bucket, or add a little tipple with a chocolate and wine pairing like our Lindt Lovers Delight.
